Job Title: Board Operator/On-Air Talent KQBU (PT)
Department: Programming
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as part-time Board Operator / on-air personality during assigned shifts, airing music as scheduled and provided by the Program Director, and all liners, promos, and commercials as logged
  • Appear as assigned by Program Director at station remotes, events, public relations appearances, or any other occasion that the station deems necessary for talent to appear to entertain listeners, gather music research, and host.
  • Check production assignments daily and voice creatively
  • Complete all production as assigned before date of air
  • Accurately label all commercials and save to proper Audio Vault server and communicate if there are any issues
  • Sign on and off of program and technical logs at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Check station email daily and, respond to emails in a timely manner; answer studio phones in a pleasant and professional manner according to corporate guidelines
  • Maintain station’s networking sites by posting creative lifestyle updates daily, and send out text messages as assigned by PD and Sales Department.
  • Accurately check commercials, PSAs, and all Promotional units as they air and communicate when there are any issues to PD and other department affected
  • Accurately log on the daily discrepancy sheet all discrepancies between the commercial log and actual material aired and communicate when there are any issues to PD and other department affected
  • Follow Corporate Compliance Rules, policies, and procedures regarding Payola, Plugola, and Conflict of Interests.
  • Notify Production Director and/or Traffic and Continuity departments and PD as soon as any problem is discovered of any commercials logged, but not available at air time to allow for changes, corrections, or to ascertain status of production of spot for air
  • Monitor transmitter readings, and log in accordance with Univision and FCC policies
  • Attach EAS notifications to Technical log as required. Accurately and fully complete all promotional winner forms, and put completed forms in designated basket for Promotion Department
  • Attend weekly staff meetings on time
  • Complete all tasks as assigned by the Program Director
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record.

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration

  • A minimum of one (1) year Radio On-air experience required
  • GED/High school diploma required
  • Basic knowledge of BDS, Music Master and Media Base/Monitor Latino required
  • Basic knowledge of Pro Tools, Vox Pro, Audio Vault required
  • Must have excellent people skills, and have an outgoing and positive personality.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Must be computer literate and have excellent social networking skills.
  • Must have a valid TX Driver’s License; maintain a good driving record, and proof of insurance.
  • Excellent English language skills, (read/write) and Spanish communication (read/write) skills required.
