GREATER HOUSTON CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU
Position: Senior Web Designer

Reports To: Vice President of Marketing

Responsibilities include the ongoing design and development of the GHCVB web site and its sister web sites. This includes daily site maintenance, preserving company standards of design, keeping with today’s web standards as set by the W3C, performing quality-control of third party content, as well as maintaining and developing micro-sites, banner ads, email marketing designs and graphics support. The position also calls for assisting and advising the Marketing staff and outside agencies on how to best utilize the website(s) as a sales tool. You will also be charged with the responsibility of keeping abreast of the latest innovations in web technologies, social networking and mobile design including but not limited to the iPhone and iPad.

You will also be working as the liaison between the GHCVB and New Media Gateway (Development Firm) on the ongoing development of the Content Management System, Digital Marketing Center and the Contact Relationship Management system.

Qualifications:

• To be considered for the position you MUST have at least five years of experience in creative web design.
• An Associate’s degree in Web/Multimedia Design or equivalent work experience building websites and other multimedia projects.
• Be interested in working in a team environment.
• Be a clear communicator and posses good interpersonal skills.
• The ability to multitask, work within tight deadlines, manage time wisely, and be super creative is very helpful in this role!

Requirements:

• Comfortable working in a PC environment.
• Expert knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash and Illustrator is a must.
• HTML5, CSS3 & jQuery is a plus.
