Position: Marketing Manager
Location: Houston – main office (6437 High Star)
Salary: $38k – $45k
Position Responsibilities:
- Plans, manages and directs all external agency communications to create consistent, powerful, lasting brand awareness in the marketplace.
- Strategically identifies new opportunities to promote Big Brothers Big Sisters and executes plans to capitalize on opportunities.
- Manages media relations efforts for the agency including all press releases, dissemination, follow-up, and press conference preparation.
- Manages all Big Brothers Big Sisters PSA placement and dissemination.
- Manages Houston website content
- Assists in development of local electronic presentation tools including but not limited to PowerPoint templates, e-announcements, e-newsletters, as well as assisting Graphic Design team with creative and editorial efforts
- Develops and maintains external relationships with media outlets, reporters, columnists and media based Community Relations Directors.
- Coordinates photography and videography for events and match activities.
- Establishes standard presentation kit materials for agency-wide use in recruitment events
- Ensures that public speakers (both staff and non-staff) are fully vetted, prepared and rehearsed prior to engagements.
- Secures, edits, and catalogs timely stories of match activities, Little successes, Big involvement and corporate involvement.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree; marketing, communications or public relations preferred
- 3-5 years of demonstrated media relations experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Top notch proofreading and editing skills with a firm knowledge of the AP style guide
- Possess experience with Mac-based hardware
- Demonstrated graphic design experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Possess web content management experience (knowledge of HTML helpful)
- Proficient in MS Office software applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook; PowerPoint
- Flexibility to travel throughout BBBS service area, and to work/participate in events in the early morning, evening and weekends
- Possess the flexibility to manage competing project demands required in a time sensitive, high profile environment
- Ability to grasp and organize concepts quickly and translate them into actionable steps
- Possess the maturity and sense of urgency to achieve measurable results
- Ability to work well within a team environment balanced with effective self-management activities
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
